CALIENT Technologies to Showcase LH and Metro Switching Applications,
GMPLS Interoperability with Photonic Switching, Gigabit Routing and DWDM Transport Systems at SUPERCOMM 2001

San Jose, Calif., May 22, 2001 – CALIENT Technologies will exhibit its DiamondWave™ all-photonic switching system in multiple long-haul and metro network applications at SUPERCOMM 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, June 4 to 7, booth 2668, Hall C.

The DiamondWave switch will also interoperate with Juniper gigabit routers and Tellabs metro DWDM transport systems to show the ability of transparent photonic switching to fully support DWDM trunking, transponderless switching, drag-and-drop provisioning of wavelength services, and multi-service SONET and Gigabit Ethernet delivery. CALIENT's multi-vendor network will implement the most advanced Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) functionality demonstrated to date, including both UNI and NNI interface operation resulting in dynamic call set-up of lambda paths over a fully photonic network.

Dan Blumenthal, CALIENT co-founder and director of advance network technologies, will chair the all-day TecForum. He will be joined by presenters from Agility Communications, CIENA Networks, JDS Uniphase, Photoris, Qtera (Nortel), Terawave and WorldCom. In addition, John Bowers, CALIENT's co-founder and chief technology officer will address the advantages and applicability of different optical networking technologies. 2D and 3D technologies will be discussed, with emphasis on MEMS technologies and issues.
